Long story short, my Dr. was supposed to speak with me the day of procedure. He didn’t. Instead, when I woke up from sedation his OR nurse texts me wanting to adjust my medication. I inform the office manager, he says I cannot consent since I just woke up from sedation. He pulled Dr. out of OR, we had a 15 minute discussion about the issues I have had & been having. He said he would change my medication. (Please keep in mind I have been struggling for several weeks to get in contact with him or his nurse.) Office manager steps in, tells him to stop and contact me the next day when I can consent. I get home, and I receive another text message confirming my medication change & a recap. I was not contacted the next day, they didn’t care. I was not informed that this meeting, discussing why they’re trying to adjust my medication over text, would warrant $2000. He is in network, but the bill is coded with 99072: “Provision of materials or clinical staff time above usual levels during a public health emergency due to an infectious respiratory disease”. Insurance (Health Advantage through BCBS) cannot help. They do not cover this code, and said the clinic didn’t file a claim since they knew it wouldn’t be covered. I have also found discrepancies in other claims that have been paid/negotiated and I am being personally billed (ex. BCBS said I had no responsibility over a $750 bill they have sent since it’s been taken care of, but the clinic is contacting me directly demanding payment). I have contacted the clinic several times asking for management to reach out, since they’re never available when I call. They have yet. I left over a month ago, my last few months with them were miserable. I eventually stopped going to doctors entirely. However, I’m not going to roll over and pay $2000 for something that is unjustified. I understand this is complex, and please let me know if I’m in the wrong place. I would greatly appreciate any help and advice. F25, 90k, state employment,Health Advantage
